Just out of college, she is employed at a new and innovative energy plant. Experimenting with a strange meteorite. Unstable and very powerful this substance gave off the energy of a thousand of our suns. This fact unknown to her she wondered in an unguarded storage area. Reacting to her presence the meteor exploded giving off its energy. Condensing itself inside her, when she came to she found herself glowing. Immediately able to manipulate the electricity in the plant, she eventually found out she could use all energy. Unable to go back to her former life, she took on the alter ego Essence.
