Kenneth P. Peterson

I am interested in sitting on the board of Oswego Youth Soccer to continue the fine tradition of my long time friend and fellow Springfield College Alumni Dick Benjamin. My soccer background began in Orleans, Massaschusetts where I played on the Varsity High School team, 1955-1959. I played Varsity Soccer four years at Springfield College where my team participated in the final four Division 1 in 1962. I coached Freshman Soccer and was Assistant Varsity Men's Soccer coach four years at Hartwick College, Oneonta, New York before accepting the position of Varsity Men's Soccer Coach at Oswego State where I coached 37 tyears. 7 of the years I had a dual coaching position, as I also coached the Women's team. I hold 3 licenses for soccer from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. A National D license, National License, and an Advanced National License. I began refereeing youth in 1979 and continue to referee. I am a certified Soccer official and am certified in Women's High School Basketball and Men's High School Lacrosse. I am also an ASA Umpire.

My three children participated in Oswego Youth Soccer helping to give them a strong foundation. My two boys went on to play college soccer.

I volunteered with Dick Benjamin in Youth Soccer for several years as a coach and referee. Over the years Dick and I spent many hours planning and discussing Youth Soccer, its direction and how best to benefit the children. Youth programs not only teach children skills but it is one of the healthy forms of exercise for youth.

It would be an honor to give back to the youth of Oswego and help to advise the Youth Soccer Program. Thank you for considering me for this position.
