This Senior Level Research Project course is designed to introduce you to the
joys of Scientific Research. As such there is no real syllabus. You will be working on
real research problems.
So for 1/29/08, Travis should find out about Charge Coupled Devices in Astronomy and how they work,
and come prepared to give a short 10-15 minute talk.
Frank should come prepared to give a short 10-15 minute talk on the IR data reduction he is doing and
Dylan should come prepared to give a short 10-15 minute talk on the RR Lyrae project he is working on.
Dylan should continue working on the RR Lyrae project: initially he should find out about
software to fit a series of points to an arbitrary degree polynomial.
Frank should continue working on the IR data reduction and show Travis the basics of this.
Travis should learn this from Frank and become somewhat conversant with Unix computing.
