Bar graphs and pie graphs assist people in visualizing proportions. Bar graphs compare values. A pie graph displays each value in a range as a percentage of the total. You can explode a slice of a pie graph to highlight a particular value. Pie graphs are limited, however, to showing one series of data per graph. Line graphs provide a picture of trends over time.
