This projects consists of three separate phases:

1. Students will research and answer questions concerning the rainforest using internet sources:

What is the rainforest and where are they located?

Who lives in the rainforests?

What animals live in the rainforest?

What foods are derived from the rainforests such as fruits and vegetable?

Students will also view paintings’ of professional artists who are specifically passionate about preserving the rainforest through their artwork. They will gather ideas from these artists work to incorporate into their work of art.

2. Students will then choose one topic to portray in their own artwork. For example, students may choose from three topics they have researched to focus on and depict in their artwork: animals in the rainforest, native people in the rainforest, or plants, trees, and  flowers of food derived sources.

3. Finally, students will type a short (approximately one page) paper answering the following questions to accompany their artwork:

What they researched is happening to the rainforest

What they depicted in their artwork

Why they feel it is important and significant

How they would like others to interpret their work

What is one thing they will do in their daily lives to help preserve the rainforest
