RE: Planning for Quest 2004

As you know, SUNY Oswego traditionally sets aside one day each academic year for the
recognition of academic achievement and creative and scholarly activities. That day, for the
2003-2004 academic year, is April 21, 2004. To insure that the entire campus community
(students, faculty, and staff) may participate in all Honors Convocation and Quest activities,
classes will be cancelled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The only activities planned for that day
should be events that are part of either the Honors Convocation or Quest 2004 programs. No
activities should be scheduled that would hinder the participation of students, faculty, or
staff.

Because of the importance of this day, I encourage faculty to consider adding their spring
2004 course outlines an activity that encourages student participation or attendance at Quest
2004. I believe that it is especially important to have our students become aware of, and be
inspired by, the scholarly activity of faculty and their own peers.

Please be an active participant in Quest 2004 and please encourage your students to do so as
well. Thank you.
