How to prepare a folder for: Merit, Retention, and Tenure

Presenter: Dr. David Bozak, Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences

 

  If you have questions on how to best prepare your folder, please bring them to this presentation. The Board of Trustee's Policy and other factors that will be used to evaluate your work at Oswego will be discussed. Faculty data form (annual reports) - how to document accomplishments and growth over time will also be covered.

 

 

Faculty/Staff Open House

These Open Houses are designed to give you the opportunity to tour the facility, meet staff, and collect membership information.  We are a comprehensive facility with a full line of Nautilus, extensive free weights, and an array of cardiovascular machines.  A variety of group exercise classes and personal training are included in your membership fee.  Wellness programs are offered each semester.  Shower and locker facilities are also available to you.  Exercise is a necessary part of your physical and mental health!  Make it part of your campus day!  For more information, please contact Ginny Clark at x3963 or x3219.

The Active Learning Workshop is a great chance to learn new ideas that will help your students’ learning and improve your teaching evaluations. Using Portfolios for Student & Program Assessment

Presenters: Dr. Richard Wyman & Dr. Beverly Melenyzer, California University of Pennsylvania (CUP) School of Education

 

The use of portfolios – in which students demonstrate achievement of complex tasks – can be an effective and practical way to assess these outcomes.   Drs. Melenyzer and Wyman have nearly a decade of experience in designing, implementing, and coordinating a portfolio assessment model for their 800 undergraduate elementary teacher education majors at a regional comprehensive university in the Pennsylvania state system of higher education. 

 

The CUP portfolio assessment model can be applied to many disciplines.  Faculty involved in designing CAPSTONE COURSES are especially encouraged to attend this presentation.

  Maria Nakamura, Associate Director, Linda Cook, and Alok Kumar of ORSP will be discussing the various ways their office can help faculty in searching for and applying for grants. In particular, they will discuss how to access some of this information about grant and research opportunities that are on the internet. Also, the various types of internal grants that are available will be discussed.

"Helping Students Understand Educational Planning"

Presenters: Kathleen Evans and Harry Shock, Student Advisement Center

 

  Harry Shock and Kathleen Evans from the Student Advisement Center will present a workshop about advisement. They coordinate the training of summer faculty for advisement and coordinate advisement for undeclared students. They are both very comfortable with the new general education program and with the notion of developmental advising.
