The
use of portfolios – in which students demonstrate achievement of complex tasks
– can be an effective and practical way to assess these outcomes. Drs. Melenyzer and Wyman have nearly a
decade of experience in designing, implementing, and coordinating a portfolio
assessment model for their 800 undergraduate elementary teacher education majors
at a regional comprehensive university in the Pennsylvania state system of
higher education.
The
CUP portfolio assessment model can be applied to many disciplines. Faculty involved in designing CAPSTONE
COURSES are especially encouraged to attend this presentation.
How
to get support for research (grants, etc)
Maria Nakamura, Associate Director, Linda Cook, and Alok Kumar of ORSP will be discussing the various ways their office can help faculty in searching for and applying for grants. In particular, they will discuss how to access some of this information about grant and research opportunities that are on the internet. Also, the various types of internal grants that are available will be discussed.
