I) Course Description A study and analysis of health, critical to a high quality of life, in contemporary society. Emphasis will be on: 1) Health related current events issues 2) The meaning of Health 3) Mental Health 4) Drugs- their use and abuse 5) Sexuality 6) Disease and disease process 7) Health issues and their relationship to life in modern society

V) Course: 1) To confront the vital health issues of our time, drug use and abuse, human sexuality, mental health, pollution, problems, Consumer health and common health problems of interest to college students. 2) Develop a greater awareness of the role of mental health and drug taking behavior. This course meets the New York State Mandate For Competency IN Drugs, alcohol and Tobacco. 3) Develop knowledge regarding dangers of psychological and other drugs 4) Basic clinical health information.
VI) Course Objectives: 1) To present the most current facts on health related issues so students can knowledgeably and rationally evaluate, make Decisions to allow for the highest quality of life. 2) To present all aspects of health issues in an attempt to remove ignorance, false beliefs and superstition and to substitute the accuracy of science for the darkness of falsehood and misbelieve. 3) To promote an ability to see and effect, reorganize consequences and evaluate in terms of personal, social and legal implications their current or anticipated health practices. 4) To secure, if possible, behavior favorable to a high quality of living and to explore avenues to those acts, which, if performs may assure this high quality. 5) How to understand clinical information and procedures we are presented with in life.
