All of the sudden, the animals heard trumpets. "The parade is starting!" someone in the crowd shouted. They all rushed outside. A parade of Mexican children had started. Some were playing instruments, some were carrying flags and some were dancing in tune. Malcom was amazed. He had never seen humans interact with animals this way before.
When the parade was over, the children started enjoying the festival. They were breaking open beautiful piƱatas, watching the animals perform, and singing and dancing to the music. Malcom had gone over behind one of the tents to practice his magic, when a little girl came over.
"Can you do magic?" she asked.
"Yes I can," said Malcom. "I can make things appear and turn things into something else."
"Wow that's so neat!" shrieked the girl. "Show me!" She yelled to her friends, "Amigos, come here and watch the bunny do magic!"
At first Malcom was nervous. He had always been made fun of for the magic he could do let alone perform for someone.
After a while, he felt comfortable with performing. Soon there was a whole crowd of children watching Malcom. All he could do was smile in enjoyment. He was no longer an outcast. He had come to Mexico to get away from being different and to do what he loved, and now he had found a family of his own where he belonged.
