Students, faculty to chase lake-effect snowstorms for data

An $86,000 grant from the National Science Foundation will provide SUNY Oswego meteorology faculty member Scott Steiger and his students the tools to chase the most intense snowstorms to collect first-of-its-kind data.

Instructions

  • Click on "Start Control" lower right.
    • If someone else is controlling the cam, the 'start control' will grey-out and give you the number of seconds until you can assume control.
    • When the 'start control' is no longer grey, click on it and you will have control for 1 minute.
  • There are several ways to move the camera.
    • Use the scroll bars on side and bottom: the far right scroll controls distance, the other two control position.
    • Click on the window itself.
    • Click the rectangle icon just below the right scroll bar. In the new small window click where you want the camera to focus.
  • The icon with a sun & head controls lightness/darkness.
  • You can take a snapshot using the camera icon on the lower left. The picture opens in a new browser window.
