New Web Server
On May 21 and 22 CTS and the Web Team will be migrating all files from our current server to a new web server. From 6:00 to 7:00 AM on Wednesday, May 21, the web server will be completely unavailable. During the rest of the time, you will be able to view web files on our server.
On May 21 & 22 you will not be able to publish to the web server. Also, you will not be able to upload files (FTP). However, you will be able to edit files in OmniUpdate and save yours changes to the staging server only.
The hardware that runs our web site is old and needs replacing. Upgrading to the new web will provide better performance as well as allowing us to upgrade the many software applications running on the web server.
Universal Editor
As part of the web server migration we will be resetting all OU Campus accounts to the new Universal Editor. This editor is very similar to the older one but it allows easier editing in FireFox 2 and enhanced editing features for a Macintosh. Also included in the new editor is a media button to insert Flash and movies.

Advanced OmniUpdate Campus Training
Advanced OmniUpdate will be held May 19, 9 to 10:30 AM, 202 Campus Center. This session will include RSS, media button and image resizing.

OU version 8 will debut on May 27. We will be conducting half-hour demonstrations on May 28 & 29. Register for a demo.
How to Resize an Image on a Macintosh Using Preview
- Open the image to be resized.
- Select Tools > Adjust size.
- Change the width to 160 (right column) or 346 (main editable); resolution - 72ppi screenshot.
- Save the file as a jpeg (photos) or gif (clip art) (use Save-as if you want to keep the original file).

Reminders:
- When creating a new file, be sure the access is set to 'everyone.'
- If you are pasting text from Word, use the 'Paste from Word' button to remove Word formatting.
- If you check out a file to edit it, be sure to check it back in, even if you do not publish it.
