OmniUpdate Upgrade
OmniUpdate's upgrade to Version 8 on May 27 included changes to the user
interface including versioning, multi-file changes, link checking,
multi-browser preview and a new tab, Pages, which combines the workflow and file manager tabs.
Demos: Here's a link to the documentation (Word) from demos held June 2 & 3.
The transition to Version 8 was a challenging one for SUNY Oswego. There were lots of "bugs" that affected our accounts. Many of these have been fixed. However, there are still a number of issues the vendor is working on.
Issues: As of June 6, the following are outstanding issues with OU8 for many users:
- unable to rename file,
- unable to delete file or folder using multiple delete feature,
- unable to move file,
- breadcrumb links not available on staging server view,
- returned to root folder when working in lower-level folder,
- not always able to upload PDF files, and
- template groups missing from some accounts.
If you experience a problem and have a immediate need to publish, upload a file, etc., we can help. Email the webmaster for assistance.
When issues are resolved, we will email everyone on the user list.

Image Folder
If you are having a problem uploading images or viewing the image folder on the production server, here is a fix:
- On the staging server, navigate to the root of your account.
- Create a new folder named images.
This folder will remain empty on the staging server; however, its creation will allow you access to the production server folder.

Left Navigation Tips:
- Every folder/directory needs a file named navigationlocal.html.
- This file is included in all pages which have navigation on the left.
- The navigationlocal.html file should link to pages
or subdirectories of that directory. (Related links go on the right or in the text of the page.)
- If you have parent/child navigation (expanded or indented links) in this file, don't delete anything without checking the actual HTML code. You may be removing the PHP code for this feature. If you need help, email the webmaster.
- Want to add expanded or indented links to your navigation? Email webmaster.
