The Compass - Find your direction
The Transfer Experience

As an incoming transfer student, there are lots of things for you to be thinking of. We've compiled a list of tasks and suggestions to help you make a smooth transition into the Oswego community.

If you're planning on attending Oswego, you can use this checklist to get you started.

___1. If you haven't already, the first step is applying for admission!

___2. If you've been accepted and decided to come to Oswego, your next step is to sign up and attend one of our TRANSFERmation programs.

___a. Make sure when you come to your TRANSFERmation program that you bring your high school transcript (to determine foreign language placement) and all previous college transcripts (in case our admissions office hasn't received them yet).

___b. If you want the best TRANSFERmation experience, please consider attending our overnight TRANSFERmation Program. This 2 day experience provides everything from the one day session and includes dining with faculty, staff, and other transfer students, spending a night in one of our residence halls, getting to know other transfer students, and learning about life on campus from other students.

___3. Get a mentor. The Transfer Services Office has designed a program specifically to assist incoming transfer students with their transition. The MOST Program can be a great way to meet other transfer students and get 1-on-1 help from a returning transfer student who's been in your shoes.

Now that you have some help getting started, we also have strategies for success once you arrive here.
