OK, so you think you are ready to enter the job market? There are many
things to think about and decisions to be made. First, the hardest
question to answer - do you know what you want to do with your career?
Your career should be a good match for your interests, values, and skills
sets. Sure, you won’t generally land your dream job right out of the
gate, but you should try to head in the right direction. If you have not
idea what you want to do, or just need some clarification, we can help you
figure it out!
Second, if you have a sense of what industry and/or job you are interested
in, are you qualified? Do you have the skill set and experiences that
employers in your field demand? Are you competitive? If so, then it
is a matter of packaging your candidacy and polishing your job search
skills. Resumes, cover
letters, portfolios, interviews,
employer
research - we can assist with all of this.
If you are not sure if you can compete, come in and speak with us and we can
help you determine if you have what you need to be successful. We can
also help you identify areas of weakness in your candidacy and/or offer
alternative paths into your chosen field.
The Experience-Based
Education office and Center
for Service Learning and Community Services can offer you excellent
opportunities for building your resume and gaining the experience employers
demand. The Career
Services office can assist with every aspect of your job search. But
don’t delay. If you are a Senior, we should already know you. Your
competition is spending time in the Compass figuring out how to get the best
jobs with the best companies at the best salaries in the best geographic
locations., Don’t sit on the bench at home. Don’t worry about it
later. Choose success - and we’ll be there to help you.
