Sophomore Michael Putillo has been selected as the Campus Recreation Player of the Week.

Putillo was instrumental in guiding his team, Goaldiggers to a men's recreational championship in this year's indoor soccer league.

Behind Putillo, Goaldiggers went 3-1 in the regular season, and then stormed through the playoffs including avenging their only loss against Pass the Nutmeg with a 5-4 victory over them in the championship game.

The Brewster,New York native says it was teamwork that allowed his team to have a successful season. "I played soccer in high school and I had great team with me from the offense of Steve (Lombardo), Max (Cohen), and I, midfield held down by Marcus (Quarles), strong defense from Matt (Kostreba), Phil (Zola), Tom (Harris), and Jesse (Cohen), and goalkeeping by Dillon (Shinder)."

Although the win was certainly a team effort, Putillo provided the lift offensively for Goaldiggers as he scored four out their five goals in the recreational championship contest.

Along with indoor soccer, the Graphic Design major also plays flag football, basketball, broomball, and floor hockey at Oswego, and cites intramurals as an important part of his college experience. "Playing intramurals has been great and allowed me and my friends to play the sport we love", said Putillo.

Along with playing intramurals, Putillo also works in the world of fashion with his own clothing company called Inspired Brand Clothing.
