James Hollowell

Player of the Week

James Hollowell, a Senior Finance major from Centereach, New York has been chosen as this weeks Campus Recreation Player of the Week.

Hollowell scored four goals in his squads 9-1 victory over Yeah Roight in the first round of the Co-Rec Broomball tournament on Tuesday, February 5th.

This marks Hollowell's third year competing in Broomball at Oswego, and his fourth straight semester playing with the same core group of players.

Hollowell and his teammates also compete in other intramural sports including Indoor Soccer, and Floor Hockey.

Of all the events he participates in, however, Hollowell lists Broomball as his favorite.

"It's a game that everyone can play and no one really excels at," said Hollowell. "It's good to play with girls too, it's a fair playing field for everyone."

Hollowell is able to succeed at Broomball thanks in part to his participation on the Men's Club Ice Hockey team, which competes at the Division One level for club sports.

"I have a better feel for the ice than most of the other players," commented Hollowell.

His team, Anne Frank's Army Tanks, will look to pick up a championship in the Spring 2013 Broomball tournament after winning a previous championship in the Fall of 2011.

"I feel pretty good about our chances, our girls have changed around because they graduated, that's probably our biggest scare, but we were able to pick up some new young talent."

Other than playing intramural sports and Club Ice Hockey, Hollowell also enjoys working out, hanging out with friends, and has recently picked up Skiing.

Hollowell and the rest of Anne Frank's Army Tanks will continue their quest for a Broomball Championship when they take on Evil Monkeys on Tuesday, February 12th at 10:30 p.m. in the Campus Center Ice Arena.
