Directions to SUNY Oswego with Route 104 Bridge Closed

From about April 1 through November 2008, Oswego's main bridge spanning the Oswego River on the city's primary east-west thoroughfare, Route 104/Bridge Street, will be closed for replacement.  The following detailed directions will aid families in navigating the City of Oswego during this construction.

From the North

1. Take I-81 South to Route 104 (Exit 34). 
2. Disregard detour signs that say "Route 104 closed over Oswego River - Alternate Route". 
3. Follow Route 104 West into the City of Oswego to East First Street (Route 481). 
4. Turn left onto East First Street (Route 104 Detour Westbound). 
5. Go to the next traffic light and turn right onto Utica Street. 
6. Cross the Utica Street Bridge and at the second traffic light, turn right onto West Fifth Street. 
7. Continue to traffic light at Route 104 (Bridge Street) and take a left onto Route 104 West to campus.

From the East

1. Take I-90 (the New York State Thruway) West to Route 481 North (Exit 34A near Syracuse). 
2. Proceed north on Route 481 through Fulton to the City of Oswego. 
3. Turn left onto Utica Street (Route 104 Detour Westbound). 
4. Cross the Utica Street Bridge and at the second traffic light, turn right onto West Fifth Street. 
5. Continue on West Fifth until you reach the traffic light at Route 104 (Bridge Street) and take a left onto Route 104 West to our campus.

From the South

1. Take Route I-81 North to Route 481 North (Exit 16A in Syracuse). 
2. Proceed north on Route 481 through Fulton to the City of Oswego. 
3. Turn left onto Utica Street (Route 104 Detour Westbound). 
4. Cross the Utica Street Bridge and at the second traffic light, turn right onto West Fifth Street. 
5. Continue on West Fifth Street until you reach the traffic light at Route 104 (Bridge Street) and take a left onto Route 104 West to our campus.

From the West

1. Take I-90 (the New York State Thruway) east to Route 34 North (exit 40 in Weedsport). 
2. Take a left where the Thruway exit meets Route 34 and turn left and travel north to Route 104. 
3. Take a right onto Route 104 and follow that to campus. 
4. Disregard detour signs that say "Route 104 closed over Oswego River - Alternate Route" because you will come to our campus BEFORE the bridge.

For those heading North

1. From our campus, take Route 104 East and turn right onto Hillside Avenue (Route 104 Detour Eastbound). 
2. Turn left onto Utica Street. 
3. Continue on Utica Street across the bridge.  Turn left onto East First Street. 
4. Continue on East First Street/Route 481 and turn right onto Route 104 East.

For those heading South

1. From our campus, take Route 104 East and turn right onto Hillside Avenue (Route 104 Detour Eastbound). 
2. Turn left onto Utica Street.  Continue on Utica Street across the bridge.  Turn right onto East First Street/Route 481 South.
