Academic Requirements for New Students

There are two primary steps that new students must complete prior to registering for an Orientation program.  These steps are outlined in the New Student Menu in myOswego. They are:

1. Activate your LakerNet ID.

2. Complete the Health and Immunizations requirement and the Academic Requirements

The Academic Requirement is a New Student Information Sheet which will assist us in pre-registering you for courses prior to Orientation.

PLEASE ALLOW TWO BUSINESS DAYS AFTER COMPLETING THE INFORMATION SHEET IN MYOSWEGO FOR PROCESSING BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REGISTER FOR AN ORIENTATION PROGRAM.

Students will be pre-registered for a full course load prior to coming to Orientation. A team of experienced advisors will work to review all information and preferences submitted through the New Student Information Sheet and plan a schedule that best suits each student. All students will have the ability to adjust their schedule at Orientation. If you request a major change please do not fill out the New Student Information sheet until you have received confirmation of your new major.

You may be required to complete a Math Entrance Exam at Orientation (if needed, based on your major). The exam will be taken on day two of Orientation in the morning. If your major is Undeclared, please contact Orientation if you are considering a major that requires a math course.  Click here for more information.

There are many resources and programs for incoming new students. It is our ultimate goal to ensure your success at SUNY Oswego.
