Employment and Involvement

Hart Hall clothing, school supplies drive for Iraqi refugees

Your residence hall can offer employment opportunities and any number of activities that will help foster personal growth, development and success.

Employment
Each residence hall is staffed with a selection of Resident Assistants (RAs) with the exceptions of Johnson Hall (home of the First Year Residential Experience), which is staffed by Resident Mentors, and Hart Global Living and Learning Center, staffed by Graduate Resident Mentors (for graduate students only). Responsibilities and compensations for each position vary. Additionally, a staff of Desk Attendants, as well as Recycling Technicians with one Student Operations Services Coordinator per hall, assist with daily hall operations. Select residence halls offer public computer labs that require student computer lab technicians.

Volunteer Opportunities
As a resident you may also wish to volunteer your services in one of the various activities throughout the year. Each spring Residence Life and Housing looks for volunteers to assist with hall openings for the fall, as Welcoming Crew members assist new students moving into their new homes.

Students also can participate in their residence student government, also known as hall council. Each residence hall, with the exception of the Mackin Complex, offers elected positions of president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary. Hall senator(s) are also elected to represent each hall during Student Association Senate meetings. All residents are encouraged to participate in weekly hall council meetings covering a range of topics.
