SUNY Oswego faculty saxophonist Trevor Jorgensen, trumpeter Terry Caviness and pianist Robert Auler explore such influential instrumental composers as Debussy, Desenclos, Fasch and Hummel. Characterized by its youth, brilliant playing and soulful interpretations, the Ariel Quartet has earned a glowing international reputation. The program includes Beethoven's Quartet in F Major, Op. 18, No. 1; Britten's Quartet No. 2; and Schumann's Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, Op. 44. Harnessing web 2.0 tools and social media is an important aspect of marketing, public relations, and networking with students and alumni. Career Services has a web site, the capability to conduct instant messaging, and has started Facebook and LinkedIn profiles. This process needs to be taken to a higher level by a knowledgeable, motivated, and enthusiastic user of this technology.
Timeframe:
• Spring 2010; potential academic year 2010-11 if available
• 10 hours/week; 3 credit hour internship
Responsibilities:
• Conduct analysis of current social media capabilities
• Recommend strategies to move Career Services into social media “market”
• Inform and train professional staff on social media trends and tools and make realistic recommendations
• Build and actively maintain social media networks on facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, etc. and understand/capitalize on the intersecting capabilities of each
• Develop marketing strategies to build high level of awareness and participation with our social media efforts
• Track social media success and develop regular reports to staff
• Help coordinate multi-media components, including photo/video upload/tagging
• Be willing to experiment with latest cutting edge technology
Qualifications:
• The intern must be actively involved in at least three types of social media and always on the lookout for what is coming up.
• Be very interested in what makes this technology work well
• Excellent writing skills
• Self-starting attitude
• Very organized with good attention to detail
• Strong demonstrated interest in social media and online marketing
• Ability to strategically analyze various technologies, develop conclusions and present recommendations to staff
