Online Reference System Launched!

The Career Services Office is currently using a new online reference system, which has taken the place of our traditional paper-based service.


Benefits of the new Career Services Online Reference System include:

-Access to your online reference account at your convenience 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
-No limit to the number of references allowed in your account
-Submit requests to your reference writers via the integrated email system
-Receive email notification when reference letters have been submitted to your account
-Ability to re-send requests to writers who may have forgotten to submit your letter
-Place mailing orders within the system to request your file be sent to graduate schools/employers
-Choose your mailing option (email, standard mail, Next Day mail)
-Receive email notification when your reference packet order has been processed by the Career Services Office
-Convenient for reference writers - one letter submitted electronically to your account
-Previously written paper-based references can be uploaded to your account by reference writers or the Career Services Office

Please choose the option that is appropriate for you.

A.  I AM BRAND NEW TO THE REFERENCE SYSTEM (I have neither a new online or traditional paper-based account):
Instructions: Register now and request a reference account.  Once on the page
  1. click on the "Register" for a new account button.  complete the full Student Registration page, and press "Submit."  You should receive an email shortly at the address you provided.
  2. Once your email has been verified you will receive a link to access the SUNY Oswego Career Management System.  Follow the link to the website.
  3. choose the "Reference Account" tab.  Read the information provided and click the "I Am Interested" button.  Upon receipt of your $15.00 registration fee, your account will be activated.

B.  I HAVE ALREADY REGISTERED in the Career Management System, AND also requested access to the online reference account.
Instructions: Please login to the Career Management System.

C.  I HAVE A PAPER-BASED FOLDER on file, but I have not registered for the new online system.
Instructions: 1.  Contact Career Services to determine if you have any mailing credits on your paper-based account that we can transfer to the new system and for help in converting your materials to digital format (312-2255 M-F, 9-4); and  2.  Register in the Career Management System as well as request access to an online reference account.


Fee Structure:
Registration Fee: $15

Mailing Fee: $6 (first class or electronic delivery)

Payments can be made
A. by cash (in our office, 142 Campus Center);
B. check or money order (made payable to SUNY Oswego);
C. credit card.


Optional paper reference form available.

If your reference writer prefers to submit your reference in paper format instead of via the online system, you may obtain the reference form document in paper or printable .pdf form from the Career Services Office.  Your writer can then mail the document directly to Career Services and we will convert and upload it into your account.  Be sure to fill out the top portion (name, last four digits of SS#, choose confidentiality option, and sign) PRIOR to giving the document to your reference writer.
