DISCOVER is a web based career planning program designed to assist all current
students and alumni with many aspects of career/job search decisions. DISCOVER
allows users to explore personal information through assessment (Inventories)
and use the results information to identify potential career fields
(Occupations) while exploring pathways for training and education
(Schools).
This online system is password protected - please contact the Career Services
office to obtain access to this system.
While the DISCOVER program is available on computers located in the Career
Services Office, the internet version of DISCOVER is available for use free of
charge for enrolled SUNY Oswego students and alumni.
Specifically, you can:
* Learn about yourself through Interest, Abilities and Values
inventories
* Explore occupations through the World Of Work map and the results of your
inventories - this includes national information on careers--including job
descriptions, job outlook, pay, training, and education requirements
* Select a career direction, education pathway and mark favorite majors,
schools and careers
* Manage your own DISCOVER portfolio by tracking your interests and favorites,
and print a detailed summary of your career exploration
* DISCOVER enables computerized graduate school searches and provides you with
the ability to locate information on graduate schools by degree program or by
specific school.
