| Oswego County AmeriCorps | The Oswego County AmeriCorps Program is accepting applications for the 2013 Summer Program. Members serve in projects around the county that directly benefit children and families. Project sites include libraries, recreation programs and non-profit agencies. Our Summer Program objectives are to provide physical education and nutrition education activities. Our 300 hour AmeriCorps members receive a modest living allowance of $2,072 throughout their term. After the successful completion of their service, they receive an education award in the amount of $1,175. The education award can be used to pay off student loans and/or finance college, graduate school or vocational training. Beyond these benefits, AmeriCorps members know the satisfaction of building a community and helping our nation be everything it should be! Applicants must be at least 17 years old and have a high school diploma/equivalent or be in the process of working on either. There is no upper age limit. The Assisted Learning Center at the Oswego High School provides students with a tutoring center throughout the school day. High School students receive one on one help in all subjects. The Assisted Learning Center is looking for college students to tutor high school students especially in English, History and Math. Volunteers also have the opportunity to participate in classroom observation. |
