SELECTED JOBS IN MARKETING

Account Executive

Liaison person between an advertising agency and its clients. The Individual is employed by the agency to study the clients promotional objectives and create promotional programs (including message, layout, media, and timing)

Advertising copywriter

Creator of headlines and content for advertisements.

Advertising Layout person

Producer of illustrations or one who uses other artists illustrations to formulate advertisements.

Advertising Manager

Director of a firm s advertising program. He or she determines media, copy, size of budget, advertising frequency, and the choice of an advertising agency.

Advertising production manager

Person who arranges to have an advertisement filmed (for television), recorded (for radio), or printed ( newspapers, magazines, etc )

Advertising research director

Person who researches markets, evaluates alternate advertisements, assesses media, and tests advertisements.

Commercial Artist

Creator of advertisements for television, prlnt media, and product packaging This artist selects photographs and drawings and determines the layout and type of print to be used in newspaper and magazine advertisements Sample scenes of television commercials are sketched clients.

Consumer affairs specialist

Company contact with consumers. This person handles consumer complaints and attempts to change the firms policies to reflect customer needs Community programs, such as lectures on product safety, emanate from the consumer affairs specialist.

Credit Manager

Direct to home salesperson

Person who sells products and services to consumers by personal contact at the consumers homes.

Fashion designer

Designer of apparel, such as beach wear, hats, dresses, scarves, and shoes.

Franchise

Person who leases or buys a business that has many outlets and a well known name. The franchisee normally operates one outlet and participates in cooperative planning and advertising. The franchisor sets rules for operating all outlets.

Franchisor

Person who develops a company name and reputation and then leases or sells parts of the firm to independent business people. The franchisor oversees the company sets policy and usually trains franchisees.

Industrial designer

Designer who improves the appearance and function of machine-made products

Industrial Traffic Manager

Arranger of transportation to and from firms and customers for raw materials fabricated parts finished goods and equipment.

International Marketer

Person who works overseas or in the international department of a domestic company and 18 involved with some aspect of marketing. International marketing positions are available in all areas of marketing.

Life Insurance Agent

Person who advises clients on life insurance policy types available relative to their needs. Policies provide life insurance and/or retirement income.

Manufacturer's representative

Salesperson who represents several, usually small manufacturers that cannot afford their own sales force. The representative normally deals with wholesalers and retailers. He or she determines needs and then displays, demonstrates and describes products and services often at the customers place of business.

Marketing research project supervisor

Person who develops the research methodology , evaluates the accuracy of different sample sizes , analyzes data and assesses statistical errors.

Media analyst

Person who evaluates the characteristics and costs of available media. The analyst examines audience size and traits, legal restrictions types of messages used and so on. The effectiveness of company message

Media Director

Person who determines the day time (for radio and television media location and size of advertisement) The goal to reach the largest desirable audience at the most efficient cost The director (buyer) negotiates contracts for advertisements in space or air time.

Marketing manager

Executive who plans directs and controls the entire marketing functions of the company The manager (vice-president) oversees all marketing decisions and personnel.

Packaging specialist

Person responsible for package design durability- safety appeal size and cost This specialist must be familiar with all related legislation

Pricing economist

Specialist who studies sources of supply consumer demand government restrictions competition- costs and then offers short run and long run pricing recommendations

Product Manager

Person who supervises the marketing of a product or brand category. In some firms there are product bra brand) managers for existing items and new product ( brand) managers for new Introduction. For a one brand or one-product company, the product (brand) manager is actually the marketing manager.

Property and casualty insurance agent (broker)

Person who evaluates client risks from such perils as fire, burglary, and accidents, assesses coverage needs, and sells policies to idemnity losses.

Public Relations Director

Purchasing Agent

Buyer for a manufacturer, wholesaler, or retailer The agent purchases Items necessary for the operation of the firm and usually buys in bulk, seeks reliable suppliers, and sets precise specifications

Real Estate Salesperson

Liaison who brings together a buyer and seller, lessor and lessee or landlord and tenant The salesperson receives a commission

Retail Buyer

Person responsible for purchasing Items for resale The buyer generally concentrates on a product area and develops a Plan for proper styles, assortments, sizes, and amounts of the product The buyer analyzes vendors on the basis of quality, style, availability, fit, flexibility, reliability, and price

Retail Department Manager

Supervisor of one retail department, often at a branch store The manager usually works with the buyer and be irresponsible for displaying merchandise, counting it, and reordering it. Department manager is often the first position a college graduate assumes after the initial training program.

Warehouser

Person responsible for storage and movements of goods within a company's warehouse facilities.  The warehouser maintains Inventory records and makes sure older Items are shipped out before newer ones (rotating stock)
