Q: What is ARCON?
A: That's the most important question! ARCON is a gaming convention hosted every spring by The Story Tellers' Guild at SUNY Oswego, Oswego NY. We are on ARCON VII, to be held March 14-16 in 2008.
2.
Q: Where is ARCON held?
A: For 2008, ARCON will he held in Hewitt Union on the SUNY Oswego campus. The State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego is located in Oswego New York. More information and maps coming soon!
2b.
Q: Where can I park on campus?
A: Information regarding parking will be posted soon.
3.
Q: How much does ARCON cost?
A: There are several price brackets-
Cost to buy the T-Shirt at the convention: $10
Preregistration with t-shirt:
$18 for full player weekend preregistration.
$16 for two day player preregistration or whole weekend with one GM slot.
$13 for one day player preregistration or whole weekend with two GM slots.
Preregistration without t-shirt:
$10 for the whole weekend.

4.
Q: How much do t-shirts cost?
A: T-shirts cost $10 if you buy them at the convention. The cost vaires if you preregister depending on whether or not you are a GM.
5.
Q: Pre-registration? What's that?
A: This is not active yet. You will be able to sign up for ARCON before the convention starts. This will get you a cheaper entrance price, plus an ARCON t-shirt!
Pre-registration will open once all Game Submissions are in. Then we will post the gaming slot schedule to the site and open up pre-registration. You'll get to choose the games you want to play in, and submit the form. We'll e-mail you back for confirmation that you picked the right games. We'll also inform you if the game you tried to join was closed, though of course we'll keep the site as updated as possible in reference to this. If the game is full, you'll be able to pick a different game OR simply wait until the convention and sign up for the game you wanted in one of the extra player slots.
5b.
Q: Wait a minute, not all of the player slots of a game will be open during pre-registration?
A: That's right. We will only place the minimum number of player slots needed to run a game online, and those are the slots you can register for. The number of minimum player slots needed is determined by the Game Master of the game you're trying to register for, and that can vary from 2-8 or more depending on the type of game.
6.
Q: So, what is the mysterious Slot Schedule?
A: The slot schedule is the system of organization ARCON uses to place games into certain time periods during the day. There are eight slots during ARCON. Each slot runs for 3 1/2 hours hours with a half hour of free time in between each slot. The schedule for this year's convention is different, and we hope better. The slot schedule is posted here.
7.
Q: What kind of games and systems are run at ARCON?
A: In the past we have run Dungeons & Dragons 3.0 and 3.5, Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, Serenity System, D20, D10, BESM, and many many others including a plethora of independent systems. Check out the booklet of open games once we post it, and be sure to pre-register!
8.
Q: I'm a Game Master. How do I submit a game to run at ARCON?
A: Click HERE! This is the Game Submission form. It is very self explanatory. You fill in the blanks with your name, the name of the game, system and game type, the minimum and maximum number of players, the skill level needed of the players, whether characters will be pre-generated by you or made by the players at the game, and a description of the game in paragraph form. The game description is your "hook", so put effort into writing it and make it fun to interest potential players!
9.
Q: What is the password?
A: The password is: H074RC0N. Remember it is case-sensitive!
10.
Q: What if I want to come to ARCON and just want to play video games, watch anime or sci-fi, and not play in tabletop games or tournaments?
A: This is fine! New this year, we will be issuing special passes - AV Passes - for guests who want to just play video games and visit the movie room. This pass will allow you to play video games and visit the movie room without paying the price for the whole convention. The cost of the pass will be $5 for the entire weekend, or $2 per day. This pass does NOT include video game tournaments that are in the main game slot schedule! If you want to participate in these, you will have to pay and extra $1 per video game tournament. Note that the video gaming room and the movie room are automatically included if you pre-register for the convention online or register for full price at the convention.
11.
Q: What kind of stuff will be shown in the movie room? Is there anime?
A: Yes, there is anime! This year we have expanded the 48 hours of anime to include science fiction movies as well. Check back for more information on this, because we may end up with two rooms (both admissible by the AV Pass) with one showing 48 hours of anime and the other showing 48 hours of science fiction.
12.
Q: Where can I sleep?
A: Well, you could try one of the many hotels (link to hotels coming soon!) in Oswego. In past years, people could also sleep in the general lounge area of the convention and in the movie room. Since we are in a new building, we don't know their policies on this. We will have more information on that later.
