Descriptions of Operations Officers
Per S.A.V.A.C. Standard Operating Guidelines

Chief of Operations will: Initiate a set of rules and guidelines in Standard Operating Guideline format, enforce all rules and guidelines fairly at all times, act in a manner that reflects S.A.V.A.C.'s professional image at all times, act in S.A.V.A.C.'s best interests at all times, keep a strong separation between personal opinion and professional decisions regarding S.A.V.A.C. operations, appoint competent Assistant Chief(s) to assist in performing duties, appoint a competent Operational Support Staff to further assist in performing duties, not abuse the elected position of Chief for personal gain or benefit. The Chief of Operations has a special radio identification number of 01.

The Assistant Chiefs of Operations will: Support the Chief and not contradict the Chief's decisions, enforce all rules and regulations fairly at all times, act in a manner that reflects S.A.V.A.C.'s professional image at all times, keep a strong separation between personal opinions and professional decisions regarding S.A.V.A.C. operations, not abuse the appointed position of Assistant Chief for personal gain or benefit, solve any operational staff disagreements behind closed doors without involving other members, carry out all responsibilities assigned by the Chief of operations. The First and Second Assistant Chiefs of Operations has a special radio identification number of 02 and 03, respectively.

Chairperson: This position is defined under the Board of Directors and holds a position on the Board of Operations. The Chairperson has a special radio identification number of 04.

The Training Captain, an experienced EMT, attendant, and driver, is responsible for making sure members are trained properly and for making sure no member is advanced into a position until that member is adequately trained and experienced. The Training Captain has a special radio identification number of 05.

The Medical Captain will: Keep a monthly updated inventory of the medical supply cabinets, Ensure compliance with mandatory daily ambulance inventory checks, Will conduct an ambulance inventory him/her self a minimum of once a week, Is responsible for stocking the ambulance with the necessary equipment as needed, Report to Operations when supplies need to be ordered and place the orders with approval, Report to Operations when daily ambulance inventories are not done or poorly done, Ensure that the back of the ambulance meets the requirements of cleanliness, Ensure that all biological waste is properly disposed of. The Medical Captain has a special radio identification number of 06.

The Communications Captain exists to ensure that communications equipment is properly maintained and logged, personnel are properly trained in respect to communications, and procedures are continuously updated. The Communications Captain is expected to work with the Training Captain and Public Relations on recruitment, retention, and training of new members. The Communications Captain will know, follow, enforce, and report major violations of S.A.V.A.C. radio protocol. The Communications Captain has a special radio identification number of 07.

The Administrative Assistant shall: Receive and process all applications, Work with the Communications Captain and Training Captain in setting up all new applicants into the Orientation of new members, Assist with all internal non essential communications, Assist with all external communications. The Administrative Assistant has a special radio identification number of 08.

The Maintenance Captain shall: Ensure the cleanliness of the front cabin of the ambulance, Ensure that proper fluid levels are maintained in the ambulance, Ensure cleanliness of the garage where the ambulance is to be kept, Perform mechanical checks and repairs within his/her abilities on the ambulance as needed, Perform all communications necessary to ensure the proper maintenance of the ambulance both within the organization and outside the organization, Maintain a fuel record for the ambulance, Advise a chief of operations of all repair recommendations and concerns of the ambulance. The Maintenance Captain has a special radio identification number of 09.
