Welcome to the
Student Association Volunteer Ambulance
Corps of Oswego, Inc. (S.A.V.A.C.). S.A.V.A.C. was formed in 1971 and
was the first completely student run ambulance corps in the nation. For more
on the history of S.A.V.A.C., click here.
S.A.V.A.C. is the
primary EMS provider for the Oswego State campus when in-service. We are a New York State Department of Health certified Basic Life
Support (BLS) Ambulance. We also provide mutual aid to Oswego City
and Oswego Town when needed. The S.A.V.A.C. ambulance is staffed
by at least one NYS certified EMT who is trained as a S.A.V.A.C. attendant,
and a driver. For more on the services we provide click on Services
link on the left side.
Interested in becoming an NYS Emergency Medical Technician? The EMT
class (HSC300) is offered on-campus, for four credit hours. The next class will be
offered in the Fall 2008 semester, tentatively in the
Tuesday-Thursday
2:20pm-3:40pm timeslot, with a 5pm-8pm lab session on Thursdays.
The course will be taught by retired Oswego Fire Department
Paramedic Mark Murray.
