Preparing Mathematicians to

 Educate Teachers

PMET Workshop, Elementary Level

Benefits to Participants:

  • Professional enhancement for mathematicians teaching mathematics courses to
    future and current teachers;
  • Information and Resources: articles in professional journals, panels at meetings, multi-media websites and hard-copy material dissemination to support faculty instruction for teachers;
  • In the fall 2005 and 2006, PMET will award dozens of minigrants of about $2500 for innovative approaches to teacher education. Participants in the PMET workshop will have a leg-up on getting these minigrants.

Participants’ Support: the National Science Foundation DUE 0230847 will provide room, board, and tuition with additional support for workshops from Texas Instruments.

Travel Expenses: Paid by the participants or their departments.
