Our Mission...

To educate committed citizens to become a well-informed, diverse network of leaders who will apply their collective experience and skills to broaden community vision, and improve the quality of life for all Oswego County residents.

What is Leadership Oswego County?

Leadership Oswego County is a program that prepares a select group of county residents to become the community leaders of the future. The group will embark on a nine month course of intensive study of Oswego County, its resources, county-wide vital issues, and its residents.

Who benefits from the program?

* Employers find the program provides an invaluable learning experience by giving their employees increased organizational, leadership and problem solving skills while providing access to a broad network of professional experts and resources.

* The community benefits from committed and knowledgeable people who are prepared to accept leadership positions in their companies and on community boards. Trained to be sensitive to our population, participants gain a greater appreciation of the issues facing out community.

* The participants gain experience in group dynamics, team building and a special understanding of our community.

* The success of the program reflects the support and professional expertise of many local business and community leaders who share their wisdom with the class.

Who should apply?

Applications from individuals, as well as nominations from area businesses and organizations are encouraged. An ideal candidate for Leadership Oswego County is an individual who:

* Is interested in the future of Oswego County and willing to help shape it.

* Has a sincere interest in seeking volunteer, public office or board leadership roles.

* Is able to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program.

* Demonstrates leadership qualities in their professional or personal lives.

Tuition is $755 and includes retreat expenses, materials, lunches, breaks and graduation expenses. There is also a one-time $20.00 application fee. Scholarships are available for eligible candidates. Class sessions are typically held on the 2nd Friday of each month, beginning with a two-day retreat in September, and graduation is in June.
