SUNY Oswego has partnered with the National Action Council on Minorities in Engineering to award scholarships starting this fall to increase enrollment in engineering fields for students from underrepresented groups.

SUNY Oswego has been designated a military-friendly college in Military Advanced Education’s 2013 guide.

SUNY Oswego physics professor Shashi Kanbur plans to travel to India this spring to open a new collaboration in Delhi for course development in astrophysics and research in realms including the evolution of stars.

Headlined by an appearance by Lilly Ledbetter, the spring 2013 edition of SUNY Oswego’s Ernst & Young Lecture Series on Gender Equity in the Workplace will launch in February. All sessions will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays.

SUNY Oswego’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program this season will staff tax-assistance sites in the cities of Oswego and Fulton and offer help by appointment in the villages of Constantia and Phoenix.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will hold a volunteer orientation for retired or semi-retired adults at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the Oswego Public Library community room.

David W. King, dean of graduate studies and research at SUNY Oswego, was recently elected president of the National Professional Science Masters Association for 2013.

In an article published Jan. 8, SUNY Oswego biology faculty member Dr. John Laundré suggests that a forest preserve in the Adirondack Mountains can accommodate the reintroduction 150 to 350 cougars, challenging previous findings.

SUNY Oswego will present the award-winning Cantus men’s vocal ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre, after the group shares its expertise with chorale members at Oswego High School and Middle School.

SUNY Oswego will celebrate the 50th year of Juried Student Exhibitions with a free artists’ reception at 5 p.m. and an awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Tyler Art Gallery.
