Representatives of Tree Stewards and Driving Books Home will make presentations on their programs as part of SUNY Oswego RSVP’s volunteer orientation at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at O’Mara Welcome Center, Route 104 adjacent to the college’s Romney Field House.

The year-long construction and upgrades at Rice Creek Field Station have led to temporary changes in ways visitors can access the nature trails.

Tyler Art Gallery will present “Paintings and Drawings from the Collection” in a south gallery exhibition from Friday, June 8, to Friday, July 27.

SUNY Oswego’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will hold an orientation for retired or semi-retired adults who would like to volunteer for any of the agency’s many programs at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at the O’Mara Welcome Center, the city tourism information center.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations, will host its second walking club event at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 23, at Great Bear Springs, south of Fulton.

Summer construction at SUNY Oswego will feature the kickoff of a $17.2 million project to connect and put a welcoming face on the School of Education’s two buildings and to renovate Park Hall, the second-oldest structure on campus.

The German Academic Exchange Service has awarded SUNY Oswego student Elizabeth de Reeder two scholarships to study in Germany for a year, starting in July.

Faculty members Richard Metzgar in art and Douglas Pippin in anthropology will receive the 2012 President’s Award for Excellence in Academic Advisement, which recognizes commitment to empowering and encouraging students from first year to senior, and sometimes beyond.

SUNY Oswego’s Leadership Oswego County will salute 20 graduates and two special honorees June 1 in Hewitt Union ballroom on campus.

Registration has opened for the next Certified Health Education Specialist test, which will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in the Atrium, 2 Clinton Square in Syracuse. 

Deborah Engelke, a SUNY Oswego alumna, local businesswoman and photographer, will display her “visual poems” from Thursday, May 17, to Saturday, July 7, at Oswego State Downtown.

City businesses are ready to welcome the many participants and visitors for Commencement this Saturday, May 12.

Those unable to make it to SUNY Oswego’s dual Commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 12, can view events live on the Web or on local cable.

With more than 1,700 SUNY Oswego students eligible to take part in May 12 Commencement ceremonies, many are already finding paths in their chosen fields.
