SUNY Oswego ceramics students will open a free exhibition of their work Friday, Dec. 9, at Oswego State Downtown.

Five SUNY Oswego students showed off their computer science skills and business savvy in early November in a business-startup competition that brought competitors from 10 Central New York colleges together with business professionals to harness entrepreneurial drive throughout the region.

Juan F. La Manna of SUNY Oswego’s music department will conduct the College-Community Orchestra as it offers music from Vivaldi, Haydn, Mendelssohn and more on Thursday, Dec. 8.

SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery will open two new exhibitions on Friday, Dec. 2, and a third will open in a student-run gallery upstairs.

The annual Feast of Carols on Sunday, Dec. 4, at SUNY Oswego, along with several other upcoming choral entertainments, will provide a musical welcome to the holiday season.

The launch of SUNY Oswego’s new mobile website allows users to connect with the campus through a location-based map, interactive directory and many other features.

Hyperion String Quartet will appear Wednesday, Nov. 30, adding a fifth player, the college’s Robert Auler, to perform “highly personal, highly original” interpretations of two landmark piano quintets.

SUNY Oswego recognized the 6,989 alumni, faculty, emeriti, staff, parents and friends of SUNY Oswego, who made gifts to The Fund for Oswego from July 1, 2010, to June 30, 2011, and raised nearly $3 million in the Honor Roll of Appreciation posted on National Philanthropy Day, Nov. 15.

SUNY Oswego will host a top executive of New York Sea Grant Wednesday, Nov. 30, as she discusses women in the sciences at the college on Lake Ontario’s shore as part of the Science Today lecture series.

The Chronicle of Higher Education has recognized SUNY Oswego as one of this year’s Fulbright Scholarship “top producers.” Two Oswego faculty members are studying and teaching overseas on Fulbright awards, one in India and the other in Kenya.

WRVO News and the Innovation Trail reporting project will present a community forum on our energy resources and where they come from on Monday, Nov. 21, at SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse.

A new minor degree program aims to provide students with greater knowledge and experience in environmental issues and the growing job market related to sustainability.

SUNY Oswego’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program will hold a volunteer orientation for retired or semi-retired adults at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at the McCrobie Civic Center, 41 Lake St.
