SUNY Oswego achieves national distinction for community service

SUNY Oswego has been named to the 2013 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction, one of only two SUNY campuses to achieve the national designation this year.

Leave Green diverts food, supplies from waste stream

An initiative of Oswego’s Campus-City Relations Committee, People Against Poverty and SUNY Oswego’s Campus Life and Residence Life and Housing offices will encourage students to donate rather than discard household and personal items as they prepare to leave town for the summer.

Service learning in courses offers campus-community benefits

At SUNY Oswego last year, 19 faculty members offered a service-learning component in coursework to more than 430 students. In 1998, when Dr. Laura Brown began offering students a service-learning option in an introductory gerontology course, only a couple of other Oswego courses challenged students to get out in the community to apply what they were learning in class.
