National Exhibition of Adirondack Watercolors to open
Selected work from across the United States and Canada will be on display at the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors in SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery Oct. 10 to Nov. 19.
A reception from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, at the gallery marks the opening of the popular exhibition.
The traveling juried exhibition, organized by the Arts Guild of Old Forge, presents some 20 paintings in water-based media from artists throughout North America. Portraits, still lifes, landscapes, narratives and abstract images are among the works chosen from more than 700 entries. This year’s juror was Charles Reid, who has long been considered one of America’s masters of the aqua media.
“This is a very prestigious exhibition, a tradition in its 23rd year, featuring work from notable artists across the United States,” said Mindy Ostrow, assistant director of Tyler Art Gallery. “Ninety-eight watercolors were represented at the exhibition in Old Forge. We are pleased to offer, for the first time, a viewing of 20 of these works for the Oswego community.”
Still on display in Tyler Art Gallery, through Oct. 23, is an American Indian Baskets exhibition.
All Tyler Art Gallery events are free and open to the public. New hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekends.
Persons with disabilities who need assistance to attend gallery events should contact Tyler Art Gallery at 312-2113.
