SUNY Oswego’s Counseling Services Center, in cooperation with Penfield Library, again will provide massages and advice to help students handle the stresses of finals week.
Counseling staff will be available at the library to provide consultations on stress management and study techniques. Massage therapists and a Reiki practitioner will provide brief massages and Reiki sessions to calm students from the stress of finals week.
“Massage has been shown to improve concentration and alertness, while simultaneously reducing stress,” said event organizer Robin McAleese, a staff counselor at the Counseling Services Center. “And it’s a great way to support students during a stressful time of the year. We also want to provide information about the importance of self-care and stress management in order to improve test performance.”
The event will be held in Instruction Room 2 of Penfield Library from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on May 9 and 10. Massages will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
