The SUNY Oswego planetarium will present “Back to The Moon and On to Mars!” at 7 p.m. every Sunday in October.

Planetarium director and host Dr. Scott Roby will review the historic Apollo Moon program and preview NASA’s new three-stage plan to take humans to Mars for the first time. The show will include an immersive full-dome video about the Google Lunar XPRIZE competition to land a privately funded robot on the Moon.

The planetarium will offer additional showings in relation to Family and Friends Weekend at 7 p.m. Oct. 21; at 1, 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Oct. 22; and at 1 p.m. Oct. 23.

Sunday shows will continue through June with changing topics each month in the state-of-the-art facility on the second floor of the Richard S. Shineman Center for Science, Engineering and Innovation.

The planetarium has limited seating, so guests are encouraged to arrive a bit early. Shows are recommended for children ages 4 and older. No food or drink is permitted in the facility. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Parking is free in the commuter lot off Washington Boulevard and the employee lot off Centennial Boulevard across from the Shineman Center.
