The SUNY Oswego Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series will present accomplished recitalist and concert singer Nicholas Phan at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, in the Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St.
The tenor will perform works by Henry Purcell and Benjamin Britten, including Britten’s “Winter Worlds” and “Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo.”
One music critic wrote that Phan is “blessed with a really individual timbre. And besides the beauty of his voice, he has the flexibility and musical intelligence to sing many different kinds of music, both on the opera stage and in the concert hall.”
Phan recently made his Edinburgh Festival debut in a concert performance of “Macbeth” and has appeared with several world-class symphony orchestras.
The artist will offer a preconcert talk at 7 p.m. Program host will be Todd Graber, associate professor of voice at SUNY Oswego. Artswego and the college’s music department sponsor Phan’s visit.
Tickets are $15 ($12 for those 60 and over and for non-SUNY Oswego students, faculty, staff and $6 for SUNY Oswego students). Visit tickets.oswego.edu, call 315-312-2141 or stop at any SUNY Oswego ticket office. Tickets at the door will be cash only.
Free transportation will be provided from campus, leaving the Campus Center loop at 6:30, 6:45 and 7 p.m. Oct. 27.
