Recorder Consort to present 'Renaissance to Recent'

imageThe SUNY Oswego Recorder Consort will present a concert, “Renaissance to Recent,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the Church of the Resurrection, corner of West Fifth and Cayuga streets in Oswego.

The title refers to the wide range of selections the ensemble will present. These include the traditional Renaissance repertoire usually associated with the recorder, as well as music from later eras, up to contemporary and popular music.

The ensemble has performed for several years at the Renaissance Madrigal Banquet, presented by the college’s music and theatre departments. The SUNY Oswego Recorder Consort also has performed at various churches and on other programs.

The group consists of John Brunson and Masakazu Oyabu, both on soprano recorder; Marilynn Smiley, alto recorder and director; Jane Wright, tenor recorder; and Burton Phillips, bass recorder.

The event is free, and the public is invited. For more information, call the SUNY Oswego music department at 312-2130.
