SUNY Oswego’s RSVP will offer an orientation session Monday, May 16, for new and returning volunteers staffing the tourism information building known as the O’Mara Welcome Center on State Route 104 near the college campus.
The session will start at 1 p.m. in the one-room white schoolhouse near Romney Field House. RSVP continues to seek O’Mara Welcome Center goodwill ambassadors 55 and older who will work with a partner weekly, monthly or as a substitute.
The volunteers will greet visitors, offer literature and directions and help sustain Oswego County’s $166 million tourism industry. Ambassadors will receive supplemental insurance coverage while volunteering, recognition for their contributions and the RSVP newsletter, Mature Living.
The center is scheduled to be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
To volunteer or to receive Mature Living, contact the RSVP office at 312-2317 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
RSVP, sponsored locally by SUNY Oswego and the United Way, is a federal initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service.
