After earning the SUNYAC title and an automatic NCAA tournament bid with a resounding 6-3 win over Plattsburgh last weekend, the Oswego men’s hockey team will return to the Campus Center arena to host Bowdoin in a national playoff quarterfinal at 7 p.m. Saturday.
The winner of the Oswego-Bowdoin contest will travel to the NCAA Division III Frozen Four championships, March 19 and 20 in Lake Placid. The Lakers bring a 25-2 record into the tilt with the Polar Bears, who sport a 19-6-1 record as at-large qualifiers for the big dance.
Tickets for Saturday’s contest go on sale Monday at the Campus Center box office for SUNY Oswego students and for season-ticket holders. Starting Wednesday, members of the general public can begin purchasing tickets to the quarterfinal. Hours for the box office are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. this week, and tickets can be purchased at the office or by calling (315) 312-3073. Tickets cost $3 for SUNY Oswego students, $8 for the general public.
Those unable to attend can view a live Webcast at http://www.oswego.edu/athletics/live, while campus TV station WTOP will be provide a live broadcast on Campus Channel 10 and Local Cable Access Channel 96. WNYO (88.9 FM) will provide a live radio broadcast at http://www.wnyo.org. Fans can also view live stats at http://www.sidearmstats.com/oswego/mhockey.
The Lakers return to the NCAA tournament for the first time since winning the national championship in 2007 by defeating St. Norbert and Middlebury in two thrilling 4-3 overtime contests in the Frozen Four.
