Recorder Consort to offer 'Feast of Suites'

Recorder ConsortThe SUNY Oswego Recorder Consort will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, at the Church of the Resurrection, corner of West Fifth and Cayuga streets in Oswego. 

Titled “A Feast of Suites,” the program will contain suites by Paul Peurl, George Frideric Handel, Edvard Grieg and Laverne Wagner. An added attraction will be the premiere performance of “A Beatles Suite,” consisting of four Beatles pieces arranged for recorder by Stan Gosek. The final number of this suite, “Rocky Raccoon,” will feature Leon Carapetyan presenting a dramatic recitation.

Members of the recorder consort are John Brunson, soprano recorder; Marilynn Smiley, alto recorder and director; Jane Wright, tenor recorder; and Burton Phillips, bass recorder. The concert is free and open to the public.
