Vocal Effect, SUNY Oswego’s year-old show choir, will take the stage Thursday, Feb. 2, for a night of song and dance paying tribute to “Women in Music.”
The 19-member group, riding the “Glee”-driven popularity of show choirs, will bring costumed and choreographed life to Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Adele, Madonna, Gloria Estefan, Carrie Underwood and more on the Waterman Theatre stage in Tyler Hall. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.
Nate Emmons, Vocal Effect’s founding director and assistant dean of students, said the show choir would perform 18 numbers, up from eight in the group’s debut concert last February. More than 100 students asked for auditions over the past year, he said, and the group has performed at Oswego Farmer’s Market, Reunion Weekend, Family and Friends Weekend and other events in the community and on campus.
“It’s amazing to see the continued interest and growth in this group,” Emmons said.
General admission tickets may be purchased in advance for $5 ($3 for SUNY Oswego students; tickets are $7 and $5, respectively, at the door) at any SUNY Oswego box office, by visiting http://tickets.oswego.edu or by calling 312-2141.
Parking is free in campus lots for those attending this event. Persons with disabilities needing accommodations should contact Emmons in advance at 312-5522 or email@example.com.
