The opening reception for a pair of exhibitions at Tyler Art Gallery—“Retrospective Reflections” and “A Visual Exploration of Memory”—have been rescheduled to 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 7, in the gallery.
The original opening reception was postponed due to inclement weather. Both exhibitions will run through March 12.
“Retrospective Reflections” covers decades of ceramics work by Richard Zakin, professor of art at SUNY Oswego and a noted expert in the field. The exhibition ranges from Zakin’s early ceramic pieces to those recently fired and will include both works in clay and on paper.
Zakin will give a 5:30 p.m. artist talk at the reception, and live music featuring Oswego music faculty members Trevor and Kristen Jorgensen will begin at 6 p.m.
“A Visual Exploration of Memory” features SUNY Oswego art students exploring personal and social histories as part of the college’s “Arts, History and Memory” programming theme. Their work will share space with a representation of published work by Art Spiegelman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning pioneer of comics and graphic novels.
All Tyler Art Gallery events are free and open to the public. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. weekends. For evening and weekend events, visitors may park in any campus lot free of charge. For additional information, call 312-2113.
