RSVP, Sea Grant seek volunteers for protected sites

SUNY Oswego’s RSVP is seeking volunteers, on behalf of New York Sea Grant, to staff tables at Salmon River Falls Unique Area and Deer Creek Marsh Wildlife Management Area, both in Oswego County.

Salmon River Falls Unique Area, featuring a 110-foot-high waterfall and expansive river gorge, is in the town of Orwell, near the west end of the Salmon River Reservoir. Deer Creek Marsh, which has an extensive barrier beach and sand dune system, is along Eastern Lake Ontario, north of Selkirk Shores State Park in the town of Richland. The state Department of Environmental Conservation is responsible for both protected areas.

Sea Grant will provide shirts, literature, chairs, tables and umbrellas to those wishing to volunteer, who may contact Mary Penny at 315-312-3042 or mp357@cornell.edu.

For more volunteer opportunities through RSVP, contact Ellen Wahl, director of the SUNY Oswego office, at 315-312-2317 or rsvp@oswego.edu.
