“Bella Italia” is the theme of the fall concert by the SUNY Oswego Recorder Consort at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Church of the Resurrection, corner of West Fifth and Cayuga streets in Oswego.
Admission is free.
“The program will feature masterpieces of the rich repertoire of Italian music, ranging from the classical to the popular traditions,” said the consort’s director, Dr. Marilynn Smiley of the SUNY Oswego music department.
“Pieces by such masters as Antonio Vivaldi, Arcangelo Corelli, G.B. Sammartini and Domenico Scarlatti will be presented, as well as such old familiar favorites as ‘Santa Lucia,’ ‘Finiculi Finicula,’ ‘Ciribiribin’ and others to portray ‘Bella Italia,’” Smiley added.
In addition to Smiley, who plays alto recorder, members of the consort include John Brunson on soprano recorder, Jane Wright on tenor recorder and Burton Phillips on bass recorder.
