'PostSecret' multimedia show to entertain with wit, wisdom

PostSecret's Frank Warren.Frank Warren will bring his multimedia show “PostSecret” to SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center arena at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 29, to entertain and engage the audience with evidence that many of life’s secrets can be shared on one side of a postcard.

Becky Nadzadi of the co-sponsoring Student Association Programming Board said that Warren, as he has in campus shows across the nation, will invite audience members to share secrets live, adding new wit, pathos and inspiration to his collection of more than 500,000 anonymous postcards.

Warren calls his PostSecret Project participatory art, and himself the collection’s curator. His publicist dubs Warren “The Most Trusted Stranger in America” and claims Warren’s PostSecret blog, http://postsecret.blogspot.com, is the largest advertising-free one in the world, with more than 325 million visitors and counting.

It’s not all fun and games for Warren. In the show, he shares stories behind the postcards, and tells the audience why he has made suicide awareness an important part of his blog.

Warren’s viral success is evidenced by Forbes magazine naming him the 13th most popular Web celebrity, in company with Perez Hilton, tech blogger Michael Arrington, Tila Tequila and Kevin Rose, founder of Digg.com. In 2006, his PostSecret site, which receives over 3 million visitors a month, was awarded six Weblog Awards, including “Best American Blog” and “Blog of the Year.”

After the event, Warren, an Arizona native and Cal-Berkeley graduate, will sign copies of his latest book, the New York Times bestselling “PostSecret: Confessions on Life, Death and God.”

Other sponsors of “PostSecret” include CCEvent, Rainbow Alliance and the Women’s Center.

General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for SUNY Oswego students, through the Campus Center Box Office, 312-3073, or at http://tickets.oswego.edu. Doors open a half-hour before the event, and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
