Rent served as co-president of Vega, the women’s honor society and service organization. She was also a member of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society and executive board of the business school’s Phi Beta Lambda organization.

The business administration major earned the John Parr Award for Outstanding Senior in the college’s School of Business. Rent also received the Beta Gamma Sigma Award, which this year recognized students in the top 7 percent of all those enrolled in business.

She plans to pursue her master’s in business administration at Binghamton University.

In a short speech at the Torchlight Dinner, Rent thanked her classmates, professors and parents. She shared the stage with Torchlight Master of Ceremonies Donna Goldsmith, a 1982 SUNY Oswego graduate and chief operating officer for World Wrestling Entertainment.

The Torchlight Ceremony is an annual event where several decades of SUNY Oswego alumni light candles from the torch of learning and spread the glow among graduating seniors to welcome them as the newest members of the Oswego Alumni Association. This year’s Torchlight Ceremony, the school’s 74th, included 30 alumni representing classes from the past six decades.
