Mastrangelo brothers' violins to enrich college-community concert

SUNY Oswego’s College-Community Orchestra will team with distinguished violinists David and Jeremy Mastrangelo in a concert on Thursday, March 24.

The performance, featuring music as diverse as Bach, Copland and Barber, will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Sheldon Hall ballroom.

David Mastrangelo, a Syracuse native who is principal second violin for the Naples (Fla.) Philharmonic, will have appeared a night earlier in a Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series concert on the SUNY Oswego campus. His brother Jeremy is associate concertmaster of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.

The Mastrangelos and the College-Community Orchestra, under the direction of Juan Francisco La Manna of SUNY Oswego’s music department, will perform Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins,” Arvo Part’s “Fratres” for violin and orchestra, Samuel Barber’s “Adagio for Strings” and Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown” from the score of “Rodeo,” among other selections.

Suggested donation for the concert is $5. Parking is free that evening for those attending this event.
