College-Community Orchestra to offer wide-ranging concert

Juan F. La Manna of SUNY Oswego’s music department will conduct the College-Community Orchestra as it offers music from Vivaldi, Haydn, Mendelssohn and more on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Church of the Resurrection, 120 W. Fifth St. in Oswego.

Student, faculty and community musicians will perform for the benefit of the group’s Orchestra College Fund. Donations will be accepted.

The diverse evening of music will feature Mendelssohn’s “Hebrides Overture,” as well as movements from concertos by Vivaldi (guitar, performed by Rob Kronen, and violin, by Erin McIntyre), Haydn (piano, by Melissa Sieling) and Mozart (clarinet, by Elizabeth Weimer).

The concert will also include a world premiere of a composition by Kronen, as well as the popular “Nutcracker Suite” by Tchaikovsky.
