The project, in its fourth year at SUNY Oswego, is part of an annual statewide community-service project by SAAC chapters at all 11 SUNY Athletic Conference colleges. SAAC’s mission is to generate a student-athlete voice among Oswego’s 24 intercollegiate teams and to enhance school spirit within athletics.
“The last few years, the response from the community has been fantastic,” said Diane Dillon, Oswego’s SAAC adviser and women’s ice hockey coach. “We look forward to getting out there to give back to the community that supports our teams all year long.”
Student-athletes will receive a list of yards that need raking and fan out to provide this service from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9.
Senior citizens can register to have their yards raked by contacting Dillon at 312-2880 or email@example.com. Deadline to register is Oct. 30, or until the count has reached 50 yards. The service is limited to those living in the city of Oswego, and homeowners are asked to provide their own leaf or garbage bags.
SUNY Oswego’s SAAC chapter welcomes donations of rakes, tarps, leaf bags, gloves or refreshments to help with this sizable volunteer effort.
